Job Description
Yama Izakaya At Yama Zaru , we are passionate about providing authentic dining experiences rooted in true Japanese hospitality (Omotenashi).
We are looking for an outgoing, attentive, and energetic Japanese Speaking Waitperson to be the face of our restaurant.
You will act as the key bridge between our guests and our kitchen team, ensuring every customer enjoys outstanding food and memorable service.
Key Responsibilities Guest Service & Hospitality: Warmly welcome guests, seat them, introduce menus, and provide recommendations on sushi, hot dishes, and drink pairings.
Order Taking & Serving: Accurately enter orders into the POS system, serve dishes and drinks efficiently, and ensure correct table organization.
Kitchen & Floor Bridge: Communicate smoothly with our Japanese-speaking kitchen staff to ensure orders, dietary requirements, and food timing run seamlessly.
Table & Floor Management: Handle table setup, clearing,



and reset quickly during busy service rushes while keeping the dining area clean and organized.
Billing & Cash Handling: Process payments accurately and handle guest inquiries or concerns with warmth and professionalism.
Key Requirements & Qualifications Language: Fluent or strong conversational Japanese (essential for seamless communication with our kitchen team).
Communication Skills: Transparent, polite, and welcoming communication skills in English to engage with local diners.
Personality: Positive energy, strong work ethic, high attention to detail, and a passion for customer satisfaction.
Pace & Multitasking: Ability to stay calm, organized, and quick on your feet during busy lunch or dinner peak hours.
Experience: Prior waitstaff or hospitality experience is preferred, but a warm attitude and eagerness to learn are top priorities.
