About Swan Hill District Health
Swan Hill District Health (SHDH)is a 143-bed health service, including aged care, employing approximately 750 staff and providing healthcare to a regional population of around40,000 people across a 100 km catchment.

The Role
The Emergency Medicine Senior Medical Officer will work collaboratively with the Emergency Department multidisciplinary team to provideclinical leadership, supervision and high-quality patient care.
The role will contribute to:

The Emergency Department is supported by a range of onsite services, including:
Acute Medicine
Anaesthetics
Obstetrics & Gynaecology
General Surgery
Geriatrics and Rehabilitation
Residential Aged Care – onsite and offsite
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will:
Act as theMedical Officer in Chargeduring clinical ED shifts
Provide clinical leadership and direction to medical staff working within the ED
Provide direct assessment and management of Emergency Department patients
Undertake history, examination, investigation, diagnosis and treatment
Prescribe and administer appropriate interventions
Support safe clinical handover and comprehensive documentation
Provide supervision,
education and support to other medical staff
Exercise appropriate clinical judgement regarding admission, transfer and discharge
Liaise with patients, families, carers and community services
Work collaboratively with admitting and visiting medical officers
Participate equitably in the medical on-call roster
Respond toCode Blue and Medical Emergency Teamcalls
Provide emergency resuscitation as a key member of the response team
Contribute to NSQHS and Aged Care Quality Standards
Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement and service development
About You
Applicants will demonstrate:
CurrentAHPRA registration
Fellowship as aSpecialist in Emergency Medicine (FACEM), or
FRACGP or FACRRMwith appropriate advanced Emergency Medicine qualifications
Recent clinical experience and high-level Emergency Medicine expertise in Australia or an equivalent setting
Strong clinical leadership and decision-making skills
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Commitment to clinical governance, patient safety and continuous quality improvement
Commitment to teaching, supervision and professional development
Willingness to participate in an equitable roster including evenings, weekends and on-call
