Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January ****.
The Team & Role
The RUSON works as an assistant to the health care team, assisting the registered nurses and midwives to provide delegated aspects of patient care.
Elements of direct and indirect patient care will be delegated in accordance with the professional judgement of the supervising registered nurse and in accordance with the level of achieved educational preparation and assessed competence of the individual RUSON.
The RUSON will be allocated to a specific ward/unit and will work in accordance with the specific wared/unit duty list.
Skills & Experience Required
Enrolled in the 2nd year (Nursing)



or 3rd year (Nursing/Midwifery) of a Bachelor of Nursing or a Bachelor of Nursing/ Bachelor of Midwifery or other double degree with Bachelor of Nursing component, registered as a student nurse with AHPRA with no conditions or undertakings
Be able to provide a transcript of evidence of successful completion of first year undergraduate Nursing qualification from a University in Australia
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Caring, pro-active, engaging manner with a willingness to learn and develop new skills
Ability to work casual AM, PM and ND shifts across 7 days rotating roster (around clinical placements)
A valid Police Check and Working with Children's Check
Previous experience working in a healthcare setting would be an advantage.
Evidence of semester clinical reports
Awareness of current issues and trends in Nursing
Sound interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer-focus
Demonstrated evidence of commitment to ongoing education and professional development
Demonstrated critical and reflective thinking skills to contribute to clinical decision making
