About the Role n
The Foodies Restaurant Hampton Park is seeking an experienced Cook to join its kitchen team. The successful candidate will prepare and cook a range of Sri Lankan and other menu items in accordance with established recipes and kitchen procedures while maintaining consistent standards of food quality, flavour, portioning and presentation.

Key Responsibilities n
n
Prepare and cook a range of Sri Lankan and other menu items in accordance with established recipes and kitchen procedures
n
Prepare curries, rice dishes, kottu, rotty, string hoppers, meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes as required for daily service
n
Inspect ingredients and food products to ensure freshness and appropriate quality
n
Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, stovetops and other commercial cooking equipment
n




Season food during preparation and cooking to maintain consistent flavour and quality
n
Portion and present meals in accordance with established restaurant standards
n
Prepare food to accommodate dietary requirements and reasonable customer requests where required
n
Monitor ingredient usage and assist with estimating food requirements for daily service
n
Store, handle and rotate ingredients and prepared food appropriately, including within temperature-controlled storage areas
n
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, cooking equipment and food storage areas
n
Work collaboratively with chefs and other kitchen staff to support efficient service
n
Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures at all times
n
Candidate Requirements n
n
Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or above) or a related discipline
n
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen
n
Experience preparing Sri Lankan or South Asian cuisine will be highly regarded
n
Solid knowledge of food preparation and commercial cooking techniques
n
Ability to maintain consistent food quality, flavour, portioning and presentation
n
Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices
n
Strong teamwork, communication and organisational skills
n
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced restaurant environment
n
