Hatchery Opertive – Early Shift | Butterwick n
Join the Annyalla Chicks team and play an important role in bringing healthy, high-quality day-old chicks into the world.

We are looking for a Hatchery Assistant to join our friendly and hardworking team at our Butterwick hatchery. This is a hands-on role where no two days are quite the same, supporting the hatchery management team with the day-to-day running of the facility.
n
You will play an important part in maintaining the highest standards of chick welfare, hygiene, biosecurity, quality and health & safety, while gaining valuable experience within the poultry industry.
What you'll be doing n
n
Supporting the daily production of healthy, high-quality chicks
n
Assisting with chick take-off and grading
n
Monitoring hygiene and maintaining excellent biosecurity standards
n
Keeping hatchery areas clean, safe and tidy
n
Following animal welfare and health & safety procedures
n
Working closely with the hatchery management team
n
Learning about poultry and hatchery operations
n
Taking part in training and development to build your skills and knowledge
n
Supporting the team with other hatchery duties when required

The role n
This is a physically demanding, hands-on role.
You will be on your feet for much of the working day and the role involves lifting, carrying and moving items, including some heavier loads. A valuable level of physical fitness and the ability to safely undertake manual handling activities is therefore required.

The position is an early shift, working from 2:30am until 11:00am.
n
The role is 5 days per week, Monday to Saturday, with the working days varying depending on hatchery production requirements. Saturday working is currently on an ad-hoc basis but is becoming increasingly required, so flexibility to work Saturdays is essential.
What we're looking for n
We're looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking and keen to learn. You don't need previous hatchery experience – full training will be provided for the right person.

Previous production, agricultural or poultry experience would be an advantage
