As our delivery footprint continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced SAP Technical Engineering Expert to join a high-performing technology team supporting large-scale SAP transformation and modernisation initiatives within a complex enterprise environment.
The Role n
We are seeking a highly experienced SAP Technical Engineering Expert responsible for the administration, optimisation, support, and modernisation of enterprise SAP platform environments.
n
This is a senior technical specialist role requiring deep expertise across SAP Basis administration, SAP HANA, SAP S/4HANA, infrastructure engineering, platform lifecycle management, and enterprise SAP operations.
n
You will provide technical leadership across the organisation's SAP landscape, ensuring the stability, security, performance, and availability of critical business systems while supporting a significant SAP S/4HANA transformation program.
n
Working closely with architects, platform engineers, project teams, security specialists, and business stakeholders, you will contribute to the design, migration, optimisation, and future-state architecture of SAP platforms while mentoring internal staff and strengthening organisational capability.
Key Responsibilities n
n
Provide senior SAP Basis administration and engineering services across complex SAP environments.
n
Perform SAP system installations, upgrades, patching, maintenance, and platform lifecycle management activities.
n
Manage SAP transports, client administration, system refreshes, and environment management processes.
n
Monitor, analyse,



and optimise SAP platform performance, availability, reliability, and operational health.
n
Provide technical troubleshooting and Level 3 support for complex SAP platform issues.
n
Design and implement high-availability, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.
n
Support SAP Security, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure compliance with enterprise standards and policies.
n
Contribute to the design, implementation, and optimisation of SAP S/4HANA and SAP HANA platforms.
n
Lead and support SAP migration initiatives, including system conversions, database migrations, and platform modernisation activities.
n
Conduct technical assessments, readiness reviews, architecture evaluations, and proof-of-concept activities.
n
Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, standards, and support models.
n
Provide technical leadership and strategic advice on SAP architecture, lifecycle management, performance optimisation, and migration approaches.
n
Mentor internal staff and facilitate knowledge transfer through workshops, documentation, and day-to-day collaboration.
n
Support operational releases, project delivery activities, and participate in on-call support or scheduled release work when required.
n
What You'll Need n
n
Extensive experience as a Senior SAP Basis Administrator, SAP Basis Engineer, or SAP Technical Engineering Specialist.
n
Strong expertise supporting enterprise SAP landscapes including SAP ECC, SAP HANA, and SAP S/4HANA environments.
n
Demonstrated experience performing SAP installations, upgrades, patching, transport management, system refreshes, and lifecycle management activities.
n
Proven experience supporting SAP S/4HANA implementations, migrations, and transformation programs.
n
Strong understanding of SAP Basis administration, SAP architecture, landscape management,



and operational support practices.
n
Hands-on experience with SAP HANA administration, database migration, and system conversion activities.
n
Strong knowledge of SAP performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimisation techniques.
n
Experience designing and supporting high-availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
n
Experience supporting SAP platforms hosted within cloud, hybrid, and enterprise infrastructure environments.
n
Robust Linux administration and enterprise infrastructure knowledge supporting SAP systems.
n
Knowledge of ICT security, risk management, compliance requirements, and operational governance frameworks.
n
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and technical leadership capabilities.
n
Proven ability to mentor technical teams and deliver knowledge transfer initiatives.
n
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills within complex enterprise environments.
n
Desirable Experience n
n
Experience supporting large-scale Australian Government ICT environments.
n
Knowledge of cloud-hosted SAP and hybrid SAP architecture models.
n
Experience delivering SAP modernisation, consolidation, or transformation initiatives.
n
Exposure to enterprise platform engineering, infrastructure automation, and operational excellence frameworks.
n
Experience supporting mission-critical business systems with stringent availability requirements.
n
Knowledge of enterprise architecture, infrastructure governance, and technology roadmaps.
n
Qualifications & Certifications n
n
SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP System Administration (SAP Basis) or equivalent certification.
n
SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP HANA or equivalent certification.
n
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
n
Demonstrated experience delivering SAP S/4HANA migration, transformation, or modernisation programs.
n
Strong technical leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management capabilities.
n
