About the Opportunity n
An established privately owned property and investment group is seeking a capable Project Accountant to join its finance team in Southbank.
n
This is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of the accounting for a portfolio of property projects and investment entities. Rather than performing one narrow part of the finance cycle, you will manage the numbers from day-to-day transactional oversight through to monthly reporting, project analysis and year-end preparation.
n
The group operates across a diverse and active portfolio, giving you exposure to different projects, entity structures, funding arrangements and commercial stakeholders.
Your Role n
Working closely with senior members of the finance team and key stakeholders across the business, you will be responsible for the end-to-end accounting and financial reporting of your assigned portfolio.

Your responsibilities will include:
n

Managing the end-to-end accounting for a portfolio of property projects and entities
n
n
Preparing monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals and prepayments
n
n




Maintaining accurate general ledgers and ensuring transactions are recorded in the correct entities and projects
n
n
Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations
n
n
Monitoring project expenditure, commitments and costs against budgets
n
n
Preparing project reports, cash flow updates and financial analysis
n
n
Managing intercompany transactions, project funding and loan reconciliations
n
n
Supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable and payment processes across your portfolio
n
n
Preparing BAS and other statutory compliance workpapers
n
n
Preparing comprehensive year-end workpapers, reconciliations and supporting schedules
n
n
Assisting with annual financial statements, tax compliance and external audits
n
n
Responding to queries from auditors, tax advisers and other external stakeholders
n
n
Working with project and investment teams to ensure financial information is complete, accurate and timely
n
n
Identifying opportunities to strengthen processes, reporting and financial controls
n
About You n
You will be a hands-on accountant who enjoys taking ownership, resolving issues and understanding the commercial activity behind the numbers.
n
You will ideally have:
n
n
n
At least three years' experience in financial, management or project accounting
n
n
A degree in accounting,



commerce or a related discipline
n
n
CA or CPA qualification, or be working towards completion
n
n
Experience managing the accounting cycle through to month-end reporting
n
n
Strong balance sheet reconciliation and year-end workpaper preparation skills
n
n
Sound knowledge of accrual accounting, intercompany transactions and general ledger management
n
n
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
n
n
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
n
n
The confidence to investigate discrepancies and follow matters through to resolution
n
n
A proactive, organised and collaborative approach
n
n
Experience within property development, construction, investments or a multi-entity environment would be highly regarded.
