APS5 Investigation/ Compliance Officer

Location: Canberra
Duration: 12 months with potential for 6 month extension
Salary: 82-90 k per annum
Clearance: Baseline

Our federal government client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical professional to support compliance and investigation activities within a regulatory setting. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys reviewing complex information, maintaining accuracy, and contributing to evidence-based decision-making.

In this position, you will support investigations/ compliance activities by reviewing information, assessing potential risks, and ensuring legislative and procedural requirements are met. You will work with a range of stakeholders and contribute to the preparation of reports, briefings, and recommendations that support informed decision-making.

Key responsibilities:

- Reviewing and analysing documents, financial information, and other records to identify issues, risks, or areas requiring further investigation.
- Supporting investigations into potential instances of non-compliance through information gathering, analysis, and documentation.
- Using data and intelligence sources to identify trends, patterns, and potential compliance risks.
- Contributing to the development of targeted compliance and risk-management strategies.
- Preparing accurate reports, briefing materials, correspondence, and recommendations.
- Reviewing financial returns, claims, and supporting documentation to assess compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Supporting the administration and processing of funding, payments, or related compliance activities in line with established policies and procedures.




- Maintaining consistent quality standards and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

About You:

- Experience in structured, compliance-focused, audit, quality assurance, investigations, or similar environments.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess moderately complex to complex information, identify potential issues, and provide clear, well-reasoned advice.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work methodically while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability in response to changing priorities, legislation, policies, or operational requirements.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to contributing positively to team outcomes and organisational objectives.
