About the Role:

We are seeking a Psychiatrist (Career Medical Officer) for a locum placement within a Forensic Health Service in Risdon Vale, Hobart TAS. This contract runs from 16 September to 11 December 2026, full-time day work with on-call that may be required. You will provide psychiatric services to a highly secure forensic mental health facility with 23 beds for consumers detained under the Mental Health Act 2013 and the Criminal Justice Act, working as part of a multidisciplinary team within the forensic and correctional health setting. Supervision and support is provided by the Statewide Specialty Director.

- Provide psychiatric assessment and treatment to consumers within a highly secure forensic mental health facility
- Deliver direct clinical services within the forensic and correctional health setting
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team in line with Mental Health Service principles and National Mental Health Standards
- Participate in on-call arrangements as required
- Work in accordance with agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

About You:

- AHPRA registered Medical Practitioner with current registration
- Experience practising in Psychiatry, ideally within a forensic or inpatient setting
- Medicare Provider Number
- Evidence of current medical indemnity for public and private patients
- Approved Medical Practitioner approval
- Satisfactory National Criminal History Check not older than 12 months
- Photo identification and relevant visa documentation if applicable
- Works effectively both autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
- Eligible to work in Australia
