About the Role:

We are seeking an Inpatient Psychiatry Registrar for a short locum placement with a large regional and rural public mental health service in Newcastle, NSW. This contract runs from 26 to 30 October 2026, working 8:30am to 5:00pm. The service operates across hospital and community settings in northern NSW, giving you exposure to a broad range of clinical environments within strong multidisciplinary teams that work closely with acute hospitals, community teams and other specialist services.

- Assess and manage acute and complex inpatient psychiatry presentations
- Provide clinical care across a broad range of mental health presentations
- Participate in ward rounds, case reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings
- Collaborate with senior medical staff, nursing and allied health teams
- Contribute to risk assessment, treatment planning and discharge coordination
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

About You:

- AHPRA registered Medical Practitioner
- Currently practising at Registrar level in Psychiatry
- Confident managing a broad range of acute inpatient mental health presentations
- Works effectively both autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
- Available for the full contract period
- Eligible to work in Australia
