Established in 1979, Sharehouse is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation supporting young people aged 16–25 who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness through accommodation, case management and mobile support. About the role

This is a voluntary governance role, not an operational one. As a Committee member, you will contribute to strategic oversight, financial sustainability, risk management and organisational accountability, working alongside fellow members and the CEO to support Sharehouse's long-term success. You will not be expected to work directly with young people, manage programs, undertake day-to-day operations or run fundraising events. Your contribution is through sound governance, strategic thinking and responsible oversight.

Key responsibilities

- Providing strategic direction and supporting Sharehouse's long-term goals

- Overseeing financial performance, risk and organisational accountability

- Supporting the CEO through appropriate governance oversight, guidance and accountability

- Ensuring legal and regulatory obligations are met

- Participating in monthly Management Committee meetings, strategic planning activities and key decision-making

- Championing Sharehouse's vision,

About you

- Finance, accounting or audit experience

- Legal, compliance or risk management experience

- Human resources, industrial relations or organisational development experience

- Business strategy, leadership or governance experience

- Property, housing or community services experience

- First Nations perspectives

- Community engagement or relevant lived experience

- Team-oriented, thoughtful people who are willing to ask questions and act in the best interests of Sharehouse

- Previous Management Committee experience is welcome but not essential

What is the commitment?

Members attend monthly Management Committee meetings, prepare for discussions and contribute to governance decisions. Occasional subcommittee and strategic planning involvement may also be required.
