About the Role
The Specialist Family Violence Disability program aims to strengthen the family violence, sexual assault and disability service systems to better respond to adults, children and young people with disability experiencing family and sexual violence and to strengthen linkages and referral pathways with disability and other community-based services.
The Specialist Family Violence Disability Practice Leader (DPL) is a capability building role for the family violence, sexual violence and disability sectors through inclusive practice leadership, secondary consultation advice and the provision of training.
The DPL is responsible for the Goulburn area and will support all the family violence, sexual assault and disability services in this area. The DPL will also provide support to the Ovens Murray area to ensure the program’s statewide coverage. This support will be as agreed with the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and will reflect local service systems and community needs. This role will also co-locate at key agencies within the service area, including at disability, sexual assault and family violence services including The Orange Door.
Position Context
The DPL reports to the Manager Family Violence. In addition, this position works in collaboration with the PCC Family Violence Team and is expected to network with all other teams within Primary Care Connect as appropriate.
Key Selection Criteria The following criteria must be met and addressed in applications for consideration for this position:
- A qualification in family violence or a related discipline at Bachelor level or above, or A relevant Diploma and at least 2 years’ relevant professional experience in related fields as per the Mandatory minimum qualifications for specialist family violence response roles. (Note-While the MMQ policy requires either a relevant Diploma or two years relevant professional experience, it is a PCC organisational requirement that candidates must meet both of these conditions)
- Experience in a disability sector role or as a disability advocate.
- Knowledge of family violence including a strong understanding of MARAM, the Family Violence information Sharing Scheme and the Child Information Sharing Scheme.
- In depth understanding of intersectionality and its application to sexual and family violence experienced by people with disability.
- In depth understanding of the social model of disability and demonstrated knowledge of disability rights and relevant legislation such as the Disability Discrimination Act, Equal Opportunity Act and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including project development, implementation,
resource management and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to support change management processes within organisations and across a sector.
- Proven ability to initiate, facilitate and maintain effective stakeholder relationships at local, regional and statewide levels.
- Professional and personal alignment with Primary Care Connect core values.
- Current drivers licence (confirm if required)
