We are looking for a First Nations Assistant Program Officer to join our team and provide project coordination, administration and grants support across First Nations programs and strategic initiatives.

About the role

As the First Nations Assistant Program Officer, you will support the delivery of projects and funding programs that contribute to positive outcomes for First Nations artists, organisations and communities.

You will provide practical project and grants administration support, helping to coordinate funding rounds, maintain accurate records and systems, monitor project milestones and timelines, and support the delivery of programs from application through to acquittal.

Working as part of a collaborative team, you will contribute to culturally respectful, community-led approaches and help ensure First Nations applicants and stakeholders can access funding opportunities and receive clear and timely information.

What you'll do

- Provide project administration and coordination support, including monitoring project plans, milestones, deliverables and reporting requirements.
- Support the end-to-end administration of grants programs, including funding rounds, program documentation, application intake, eligibility checks, assessment processes, approvals, contracting, payments and acquittals.
- Assist with implementing project plans by coordinating documentation, records and actions and monitoring progress against agreed outcomes.
- Undertake basic research and analysis and contribute to project briefs, reports and improvements to funding programs.




- Respond to enquiries from stakeholders and funding applicants, providing clear information and updates about projects and programs.
- Support equitable access to funding opportunities for First Nations artists, organisations and communities.
- Provide secretariat and administrative support, including coordinating meetings, preparing papers and maintaining project records and registers.
- Work in accordance with relevant policies, processes and First Nations cultural protocols.

About You

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

- Experience supporting project coordination and/or grants administration.
- An understanding of funding program processes, including applications, assessment, contracting, payments and reporting.
- An understanding of First Nations cultural strategies, programs and initiatives, with respect for cultural protocols and community-led approaches.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work respectfully with a range of stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and administrative systems.
- A collaborative approach and a commitment to supporting positive outcomes for First Nations artists, organisations and communities.

Essential Requirements

This is an Identified role under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role.
