Project Lead
Contract / Temporary | Kewdale Based | Engineering & Industrial Projects
FUZE is seeking an experienced Project Lead to take ownership of projects from initial opportunity and scoping through to delivery and close-out.
This is a hands-on project delivery role for someone who is comfortable taking genuine ownership - scoping and estimating work, developing schedules and project documentation, managing clients, making delivery decisions and driving projects through to completion.
Working within a small, agile team, you won't be relying on dedicated estimators, planners. You'll be close to the work, the client and the decisions that keep projects moving.
The Role
As Project Lead, you will own projects across the full lifecycle and act as the key interface between FUZE, our clients and internal teams.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Own projects from initial opportunity, scoping and estimating through to execution and close-out.
- Develop proposals, CTRs, estimates, project schedules and supporting documentation.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients across commercial and project delivery matters.
- Build strong client relationships and confidently manage issues when projects don't go to plan.
- Make day-to-day project delivery decisions and take accountability for project outcomes.
- Coordinate Engineering, Operations, Logistics, Finance and other internal stakeholders.
- Monitor project costs, schedules, risks, deliverables and commercial performance.
- Coordinate mobilisation planning and execution, including short-notice project requirements.
- Direct and coordinate personnel assigned to projects to achieve delivery outcomes.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues impacting project delivery.
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, documentation and client communication.
- Manage multiple competing priorities in a responsive, fast-paced workplace.
About You
We're looking for a hands-on project professional who is comfortable taking ownership rather than simply coordinating tasks.
To be successful, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience owning end-to-end project delivery, including scoping, estimating, execution and close-out.
- A minimum of 2 years' project delivery experience, with 5+ years highly regarded.
- Genuine client-facing experience, including acting as the primary contact for external clients.
- Experience managing project costs, schedules, risks and commercial deliverables.
- The ability to prepare your own estimates, schedules, proposals and project documentation.
- Experience working within a small or agile team environment where project delivery isn't supported by large dedicated project-control functions.
- A tertiary qualification in a STEM-related discipline.
- Strong communication, organisation,
problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- The ability to manage changing priorities and make sound decisions under pressure.
- An understanding of the responsive, 24/7 operating environment associated with mining, oil & gas and industrial clients.
Experience within mining, oil & gas, industrial maintenance, shutdowns/turnarounds, composites or engineering services will be highly regarded but isn't essential.
A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Structural Engineering or a related discipline, project management qualifications and relevant site tickets such as MSIC, BOSIET, Working at Heights or Confined Space Entry will also be highly regarded.
The Opportunity
This is a contract/temporary position based predominantly from FUZE's Head Office in Kewdale, with ad-hoc travel to remote project and client locations.
This isn't a traditional people-management position. You'll operate as a leader within your projects - directing work, coordinating project personnel and owning outcomes - without formal line-management responsibilities.
Our clients and projects don't always operate Monday to Friday, 8-to-4. During critical execution phases, some out-of-hours responsiveness are required, including evenings, weekends and public holidays. Time in lieu (TIL) is provided in accordance with company policy.
If you're someone who enjoys being close to the client, making decisions and taking genuine ownership of projects from opportunity through to completion, we'd like to hear from you.
