Sajj Holdings pty ltd is seeking a Deceased Persons Transport Officer to join our team on a casual basis. This role is based in Carrum Downs VIC 3201 and is fundamental to providing respectful and dignified services to families during their time of need. As a Deceased Persons Transport Officer, you will play a vital role in our community services operations, ensuring the safe, secure and compassionate transport of deceased persons whilst maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and care.
Key responsibilities
- Transporting deceased persons from various locations including hospitals, care facilities, private residences and funeral homes in a safe and dignified manner
- Ensuring all deceased persons are handled with appropriate respect and care in accordance with company protocols and industry standards
- Maintaining and operating transport vehicles to the highest safety and cleanliness standards
- Completing accurate documentation and records relating to each transport, including chain of custody procedures
- Communicating professionally and compassionately with bereaved families, funeral directors and other stakeholders
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations, including infection control and personal protective equipment protocols
- Assisting with the preparation and positioning of deceased persons as required
- Performing regular vehicle maintenance checks and reporting any faults or issues promptly
- Supporting the broader community development mission of Sajj Holdings pty ltd through dedicated service provision
What we're looking for
- Proven experience working in deceased persons transport, funeral services or similar roles within community services and development
- A valid Australian driver's licence with a clean driving record
- Strong ability to work respectfully and sensitively with bereaved individuals and their families
- Physical capability to safely lift and transfer deceased persons, including use of appropriate equipment
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, particularly regarding documentation and record-keeping
- Understanding of and compliance with relevant health, safety and privacy legislation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, often on irregular or unsociable hours
- Professional demeanour, discretion and emotional resilience
