The opportunity

Join headspace Malvern and be part of a supportive, values-driven team dedicated to improving the mental health and wellbeing of young people aged 12-25 years. Reporting to the Team Leader, headspace Malvern, this is a Part-time (0.8 EFT), Maximum-term parental leave cover position until 30 June 2027.

Based at headspace Malvern, you will work within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, evidence-based mental health support to young people and their families while contributing to positive outcomes across health, wellbeing, education and social participation.

The role

As a Mental Health Clinician, you will provide mental health assessments, brief interventions, single-session support, therapeutic counselling and care coordination using evidence-based approaches. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will support young people and their families to develop goals, build resilience and connect with education, employment, health and community services.

Using a compassionate "no wrong door" approach, you will ensure every young person feels welcomed with hope, empathy and respect. You will manage a clinical caseload while working closely with a multidisciplinary team and Senior Clinician to deliver holistic and integrated care.

What you will be doing Key Responsibilities

- Undertake assessments, Support First (single session), case management and brief interventions where appropriate
- Provide short- medium term evidence-informed psychological interventions to a caseload of young people, their family and friends
- Work collaboratively with schools, community groups and other key people in the young person’s life
- Assess,



monitor and proactively manage clinical risk
- Actively participate and work cooperatively within the multidisciplinary team, collaborative partner organisations and with young people, family/friends, referrers and other stakeholders
- Ensure clinical files are maintained to a high standard to facilitate good clinical management and accountability and that other reporting requirements are documented within required timeframes to a high standard

What you will bring

Key Selection Criteria

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology or social work
- FULL registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA, or accredited as a Mental Health Social Worker with AASW Medicare provider number
- Demonstrated experience working in youth, mental health, alcohol and other drugs, community or similar health services (minimum two years’ experience is preferred)
- Experience and recognised training in clinical risk assessment and management (including suicide risk assessment)
- Medicare Provider number (ability to obtain on commencement)

Compliance Requirements

- National Police Check
- Working with Children Check
- Valid Driver’s Licence preferred
