The Director, Strategy and Policy role is part of the First Nations Health Office Leadership Team and provides advice and support to the Senior Director, Strategy and Reform Branch through to the Chief First Nations Health Officer. This role provides executive leadership to drive transformational change and structural reform to improve health outcomes of First Nations peoples.
Your key responsibilities:
- Provide independent, strategic, consistent, timely advice to the Senior Director, Strategy and Reform Branch regarding contentious, time-critical, or confidential matters, and other issues as required to ensure business continuity.
- Inform and provide strategic advice on national policy reforms including the National Health Reform Agreement, together with the oversight and/or implementation of government policy positions.
- Resolve issues, particularly contentious, time-critical, or confidential matters as required by the First Nations Health Office.
- Undertake complex, sensitive and time-critical projects for the First Nations Health Office.
How you will be assessed
The essential requirements for this role are:
- A demonstrated understanding of historical and contemporary issues affecting First Nations peoples and subsequent health impacts.
- Experience in providing sensitive, confidential and complex support to the First Nations Executive Leadership Team as well as other departmental leadership executives as required.
- Experience in leading and managing business and executive support services including financial, human resources, governance and correspondence within a division.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills including the ability to resolve conflict positively.
