Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.

The Team & Role

The Registered Undergraduate Student of Nursing/Midwifery (RUSON/M) works as an assistant to the healthcare team, supporting Registered Nurses and Midwives in the delivery of delegated aspects of patient care. The RUSON/M undertakes delegated direct and indirect patient care activities under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse or Midwife, consistent with their assessed level of competence, scope of practice, and organisational requirements.





The RUSON/M is allocated to a specific ward or unit and works in accordance with the relevant ward/unit duty list, policies, procedures and local requirements. The RUSON/M may be redeployed to other clinical areas as required, subject to their level of competence and appropriate supervision. The RUSON/M is employed to undertake activities identified within the RUSON/M Core Duties List and is required to comply with the associated Exclusion List.

Skills & Experience Required

Currently enrolled in an approved undergraduate nursing or midwifery program at a recognised university and registered with AHPRA as a student nurse or midwife. At the time of commencement, the applicant must have successfully completed at least 12 months of their undergraduate course, in accordance with the requirements of the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) Enterprise Agreement .

Must be able to provide a transcript of evidence of successful completion of first year of the undergraduate qualification.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Caring, pro‑active, engaging manner with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Flexibility to work AM and PM shifts across 7‑day rotating roster (around clinical placements).





A valid Police Check and Working with Children’s Check.

Previous experience working in a healthcare setting would be an advantage.

Awareness of current issues and trends in Nursing
