We are looking for an experienced CNC Milling Machinist to join our engineering workshop.
CNC milling is the main focus of this role. We are looking for a skilled machinist with strong machine knowledge who can work independently and take a job from engineering drawing through to finished component.
Our work includes one-off and small-batch jobs, ranging from precision components to large and heavy machining.
Key Responsibilities & Skills
Strong CNC milling, setup and machining experience
Set up and operate different types and sizes of CNC milling machines independently
Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and surface finish requirements
Plan machining methods, sequences, setups and work holding
Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds and cutting parameters
Machine precision components to tight tolerances
Confident with complex setups and large or heavy components
Robust understanding of machine capabilities and machining processes
Competent with precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, height gauges and dial indicators
Inspect and verify your own work
Troubleshoot machining, tooling and setup issues
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
General Workshop Skills
Manual milling and turning
Drilling, tapping, grinding, fitting and deburring
Mechanical assembly
General hand and power tools
Forklift operation and material handling
General workshop duties as required
Advantageous
CNC turning experience
CNC programming and CAD/CAM experience
Experience with large machining and complex one-off work
We are looking for an experienced machinist, not simply a CNC operator - someone who understands the machine and machining process and can take responsibility for completing a job accurately from setup through to final inspection.
