Shapeshifter are an independent brewery that make innovative and and exciting beers. Recently, they revealed their plans to open a second home in the Adelaide Central Market. They're looking for a venue manager to run that taproom.

Job Description: Venue Manager

Location:Stall GR37-39, Market Square Adelaide (Grote Street frontage), Adelaide Central Market
Commencement:October 2026
Salary:$85,000 per annum + superannuation
Hours:38 per week

About us

Shapeshifter Brewing Co is an independent, award-winning Adelaide craft brewery that has been making modern, adventurous beers out of our Findon brewery and taproom since October 2021. We chase the styles we are excited about, brew them properly, and pour them in a venue that has become one of the city's better-known homes for craft beer. In November 2026 we are opening our second venue, a dedicated taproom inside the redeveloped Market Square at the Adelaide Central Market.

About the venue

The current taproom is being purpose-built to showcase our beers to the millions of people who move through one of the country's great food and beverage precincts every year. The idea is simple: we want a space where Market visitors can sit down with a beer they have not had before, get a feel for how it was made, learn a little about the styles on our board, and walk away knowing a bit more about the story behind the brand. It is part taproom, part showcase, and we want it to set a new bar for what a brewery venue can look and feel like in Australia.

The role

You will run the venue end to end. The floor, the team, the events calendar, the customer experience, and the look and feel of the place day to day. You will report directly to the Managing Director, and as the first hire into the venue,

you will be the person who sets the tone and the standard from day one.

The work covers:

- Recruiting, training and leading the front-of-house team ahead of opening, and shaping the culture they operate in.
- Owning service standards across market hours, the after-work crowd and weekends, so the floor feels consistent whether someone is dropping in for a midday tasting paddle or settling in for the evening.
- Curating the offer across our core range, seasonals and guest taps, along with packaged takeaway and merch, and working closely with our brewing team to bring new releases to life on the floor.
- Running the venue day to day: rostering, ordering, stocktakes, pricing and margins.
- Building the events and programming calendar, with marketing support from the Findon team.
- You will give the production team structured, ongoing feedback on which beers and drinks are moving and which are not, so that forecasts, ingredient orders and the recipe pipeline can be built around real venue data.

About you

You are probably running a venue right now, or sitting as 2IC at one of Australia's better bars, and you are ready for the step up or the step across. You might come from a craft beer venue, or you might come from the cocktail and wine side of town. You have enthusiasm and knowledge about craft beer, can hold a floor, lead a team, run the numbers, and genuinely care about what is in the glass.

You will have:

- Three or more years in venue management, assistant management or senior bar leadership.

- A track record running floor service in a high-volume, quality-driven venue.
- Strong financial literacy. You can roster to a wage budget, read a P&L;, and manage COGS without guessing.
- A genuine interest in craft beer. You do not need to be an encyclopaedia, but you do need to care, and you do need to be able to talk about what you are pouring.
- A current RSA and RP badge.
- A leadership style that builds a team people actually want to work in.

What we offer:

- A purpose-built venue with the design, location and supply chain already sorted, so you can focus on running it well.
- Six months probation, four weeks annual leave, ten days personal leave, and TOIL accrued one-for-one on approved additional hours.
- Six weeks of paid lead-in before opening to recruit, train and soft-trade.
- The chance to put your name on the launch of one of the most anticipated new venues in Adelaide.
