Childs Play Early Learning Centre – Wyndham Vale VIC
Child's Play ELC is looking for an inspiring, experienced Educational Leader to join our Wyndham Vale centre. This is a permanent position at 37.5 hours per week. You will lead our team of educators to deliver high-quality, child-centred learning programs.
As Educational Leader, you'll guide the development and carrying out of our educational program across the service. You'll mentor and coach educators, encourage critical reflection and help build a culture of continuous improvement. You'll work closely with the Centre Manager to make sure our practice reflects the National Quality Framework (NQF), the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF V2.0) and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF). This role is central to our mission of giving children and families in our community exceptional education and care.
Key responsibilities
Lead the development, carrying out and evaluation of the educational program and practice across all rooms, in line with the approved learning frameworks
Lead, mentor and coach a team of educators to plan programs that respond to children's interests, strengths, needs and developmental stages
Build a culture of critical reflection through regular team meetings, room visits, feedback and professional conversations
Support educators with documentation, observations, planning cycles and assessment of children's learning, and keep the quality and consistency high
Model best practice on the floor, including direct work with children, inclusive practice and intentional teaching
Lead and contribute to the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), self-assessment and preparation for assessment and rating
Identify training needs within the team and help plan professional learning
Make sure children's safety, wellbeing and rights stay at the centre of practice, in line with the Child Safe Standards and Child's Play policies and procedures
Build strong partnerships with families and community, so families take part in their child's learning
Support smooth transitions, including settling recent children and moving children between rooms and to school
Support our in-house weekly incursions
Work with the Centre Manager and leadership team on service operations and continuous improvement
Time on the floor required.
What we're looking for
A Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or higher (Bachelor of Early Childhood Education highly regarded), or an ACECQA-approved equivalent
Proven experience in early childhood education, ideally including room leadership or educational leadership
Strong working knowledge of the NQF, National Quality Standard, EYLF V2.0 and VEYLDF
Confidence and experience mentoring, coaching and motivating a team of educators
Strong skills in pedagogy, program planning and documentation, and the ability to support others to grow in these areas
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with children, families and colleagues
A reflective, solution-focused approach and a real commitment to continuous improvement
A current Victorian Working with Children Check (Employee) or willingness to obtain one
Current First Aid, CPR, anaphylaxis and asthma management qualifications (HLTAID012 or equivalent)
Current Child Protection training (or willingness to complete it)
Availability to work rostered shifts between 6:30am and 6:30pm
