We are seeking a Mental Health Clinician to provide recovery-oriented, trauma-informed support through the UpStart program, helping people experiencing mental illness strengthen community connections and pursue volunteering, study and employment opportunities.

About The Role
As a Mental Health Clinician in the UpStart program, you'll provide flexible, person-led support to consumers. Working alongside peer workers and the broader mental health team, you will help consumers develop practical recovery goals and reconnect with community, learning and employment opportunities.
What will I be doing?
- Completing holistic assessments and developing recovery-oriented care plans using strengths-based and lived experience-informed approaches
- Managing a caseload and providing one-to-one, outreach and discipline-specific support to consumers and carers
- Supporting consumers to access community engagement, volunteering, study and employment opportunities
- Collaborating with UpStart Peer Workers, consumers, families and other supports in care meetings, reviews, risk assessment and safety planning
- Managing referral enquiries and referrals, and maintaining comprehensive and timely consumer records
- Contributing to program planning, therapeutic activities, evaluation and promotion to internal and external stakeholders
About You
You’ll be an experienced mental health or community services professional who brings sound judgement, initiative and a genuine commitment to recovery-oriented, consumer-centred practice.
To Be Successful, You’ll Bring
- A professional qualification in lived experience, peer work, welfare, mental health, or an equivalent field
- Experience delivering recovery-focused rehabilitation and individual support to people with psychosocial disability due to mental illness
- Experience working in hospital and/or community mental health settings
- The ability to work autonomously, exercise sound professional judgement and seek consultation or supervision when required
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across multidisciplinary teams, consumers, carers, families and other stakeholders
- A strong understanding of consumer-centred and recovery-oriented frameworks, social determinants of health,
qualified boundaries and the MARAM framework
- A demonstrated commitment to inclusive practice with diverse communities, including LGBTIQA+ and culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- A current Victorian driver's licence
Desirable
- Proficiency in a second language

Location
This role is primarily based at 341 Coventry Street, South Melbourne, with work at additional sites as required.
