Experienced GP Veterinarian – Develop Your Emergency Skills
Bundoora, North-East Melbourne | GP + Urgent Care | Full-Time or Part-Time
Love General Practice but want exposure to more compelling and challenging cases?
You don’t need to make the jump into a full emergency role to broaden your clinical skills.
About the Role
Bundoora Veterinary Group is seeking an experienced Veterinarian to join its team across General Practice and the Northern Suburbs Animal Emergency Centre.
Previous emergency experience is not essential.
Depending on the successful candidate’s experience and career goals, the role could include:
- Small animal GP consultations, surgery and dentistry
- Urgent care and primary emergency consultation
- Working alongside an experienced ECC team
- A varied and interesting caseload
The caseload encompasses both General Practice and Emergency & Critical Care. Trauma, foreign bodies, pericardial effusion, toxicities including snake envenomation, oncology and referral cases are all part of the hospital’s regular caseload.
For veterinarians who prefer GP, this role has the flexibility to be a predominantly GP-focused position.
About Bundoora Veterinary Group
Bundoora Veterinary Group is independently owned and operates across three clinics, including Bundoora Veterinary Hospital and the Northern Suburbs Animal Emergency Centre.
At Bundoora Veterinary Hospital, General Practice and Emergency clinicians work closely together,
giving veterinarians the opportunity to develop across both areas while being supported by an experienced veterinary and nursing team.
Facilities and Support:
- Extensive in-house laboratory facilities
- Ultrasound
- Endoscopy
- Comprehensive surgical facilities
- 24/7 hospital capability
- Experienced GP and ECC clinicians
- Skilled veterinary nursing support
What’s on Offer?
- 76 hours per fortnight across 7 shifts for full-time
- 7 days off every fortnight
- 5 weeks’ annual leave
- Annual conference and CPD leave
- Full-time and part-time options
- Competitive salary based on experience and roster
- Mentoring and clinical support
- The opportunity to develop ECC skills without needing to move into a dedicated emergency role
About You
The role would suit a veterinarian who:
- Has at least 18 months’ General Practice experience
- Holds current Victorian veterinary registration
- Enjoys a varied caseload
- Is confident managing routine GP cases
- Has an interest in developing clinically
- Enjoys working as part of a cooperative team
You don’t need to be an ECC expert. If you have a solid grounding in General Practice and are keen to broaden your emergency skills, this could be a good match.
Likewise, if you already have ECC experience and would like the opportunity to maintain a strong GP component, this role offers plenty of flexibility.
