An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Group Financial Controller to join a leading renewable energy business with a significant portfolio of energy generation and storage projects across Australia.
Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a broad senior finance leadership role with responsibility across Group financial reporting, consolidations, financial control, FP&A;, tax and audit, together with exposure to project finance, debt facilities and lender reporting.
The role will work closely with the CFO, senior management and project teams across a portfolio of major projects spanning development, financing, construction and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual Group financial reporting, and statutory requirements.
Oversee Group consolidations, month-end and year-end close processes and preparation of statutory financial statements.
Lead budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning, providing meaningful financial analysis and insights to senior management.
Oversee accounting policies and technical accounting matters relating to complex transactions, project structures, financing arrangements and corporate activities.
Manage cash flow, liquidity forecasting, treasury and banking arrangements.
Take ownership of project debt reporting, lender reporting, covenant compliance and debt servicing requirements.
Support the CFO across project finance facilities, refinancing, equity funding and other financing transactions, working closely with lenders and external advisers.
Lead the external audit process, statutory financial statement preparation and Group tax compliance.
Maintain a robust financial control and governance environment while driving improvements across finance systems,
reporting, automation, processes and data quality.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
Experience within a Group Financial Controller, Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar senior finance, or divisional lead role.
Strong hands-on experience across Group reporting, consolidations and statutory financial statement preparation.
Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of Australian Accounting Standards / IFRS.
Experience across debt reporting, project finance, lender reporting, covenant compliance and/or debt facilities.
Previous experience within Energy, Resources, Infrastructure or a closely related project-based sector.
Demonstrated experience improving financial controls, reporting processes and finance systems.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior management, project teams, lenders, auditors and external advisers.
A hands-on and practical approach, with the ability to move comfortably between detailed financial matters and broader commercial issues.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to step into a highly visible Group-level finance leadership role, reporting directly to the CFO within an established renewable energy business operating across major energy and infrastructure projects.
The position offers a particularly broad remit across Group Finance and project finance, providing exposure to senior management, lenders, project teams and complex financing activities.
Based in Sydney CBD, the business offers a flexible hybrid working environment with three days in the office and two days working remotely, together with a competitive remuneration package.
Candidates with experience across Energy, Resources, Infrastructure or closely related sectors, coupled with strong Group reporting, consolidations, financial statement preparation and project finance/debt reporting experience, are strongly encouraged to apply.
