The Role
This Business Analyst role is responsible for identifying business needs and translating them into effective system and process improvements across Southern Ports. Working closely with stakeholders, vendors, and project teams, you will gather requirements, map business processes, support project delivery, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The position plays a key role in enhancing business systems, supporting digital transformation, and ensuring solutions align with organisational goals, governance requirements, and operational needs.
Experience with enterprise systems would be beneficial, including HRIS, Payroll, CRM, Vendor Management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Business Analysis & Requirements Management – Elicit, analyse, and document business requirements, identify opportunities and risks, and develop business cases to support solution delivery.
- Business Process Improvement – Map and analyse current and future-state processes, developing workflows and recommendations to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Project & Solution Delivery Support – Support project planning, testing, implementation,
and change activities to ensure successful delivery of business and technology initiatives.
- Stakeholder & Vendor Management – Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors, managing communications, expectations, and escalations.
- Governance & Compliance – Ensure business analysis, planning, and solution delivery activities align with organisational governance, security, and compliance requirements.
- Continuous Improvement & Digital Innovation – Contribute to business systems roadmaps, support digital transformation initiatives, maintain documentation, and promote a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Required
- Qualifications relevant to position
- Minimum of 3 years Business Analyst experience
- 3 years’ experience working within project teams
- Understanding of the WA State Government Cyber Security policy
- Understanding of the Privacy Legislation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
- Excellent people and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to deliver on short lead times with competing priorities.
Preferred
- Project Management Certification
- 5 Years Business Analyst experience preferred
- Experience working with a Procurement supporting enterprise procurement processes
- Project management support and development of status reports.

- Project Management Methodologies
- Exposure to procurement processes and workflows
- Highly regarded experience across the full employee lifecycle, including HR operations, payroll, time and attendance, and timesheet management within enterprise systems.
To be eligible for this role, applicants must reside either Perth, Bunbury, Albany or Esperance and provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
The successful applicant must:
- Be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card
- Pass a pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing
- Provide a National Police Certificate that is within a 6-month period.

The Southern Ports Authority was established on the 1st of October 2014 following the merger of the Albany Port Authority, Bunbury Port Authority, and Esperance Port Authority.
The legislation enabling the merger of the ports, The Ports Legislation Amendment Act 2014, was given Royal Assent on 20 May 2014.
The merger of the previous three port authorities was initiated by a comprehensive review of Western Australia’s ports commissioned in 2010. The scope of the review was to look at all matters concerning port operations, port governance and port performance to ensure that Western Australia’s ports could continue to respond to the demands of the State’s rapidly growing economy.
