Key responsibilities
Gardener
· Mowing, edging, whipper-snipping, pruning, hedging, weeding, mulching and planting
· Turf and lawn care, plus basic irrigation checks and repairs
· Safe operation of hand tools and powered equipment, including ride-on mowers, blowers and line trimmers
· Green-waste and litter removal, keeping sites clean, safe and well presented
· Working to schedule and standard ( Council sites are delivered under a council maintenance contract across parks, streetscapes and open spaces)
Leading Hand
· Running the daily maintenance program on site and allocating tasks across a small crew
· Checking work meets quality and safety standards,
and stepping in hands-on alongside the team
· Basic record-keeping and daily reporting, and liaising with the supervisor on resourcing and site issues
Maintenance Co-ordinator
· Planning and scheduling maintenance works across multiple sites in the Southeast
· Managing site costs and margin, with sound financial acumen across the region
· Coordinating crews, plant and materials, and acting as the day-to-day contact for sites in the region
· Identifying and creating variation works to enhance site aesthetics and meet client expectations
· Carrying out site inspections and quality checks, and keeping records and reporting up to date
About you
· Experience in gardening, landscaping, horticulture or grounds and turf maintenance
· Confident and protected with mowers, hand tools and powered equipment
· A current driver's licence
· Reliable, safety-focused, and take pride in the standard of your work
· For the Leading Hand role, experience leading or coordinating a small crew on site
· For the Co-ordinator role, experience scheduling and coordinating works, crews or resources across multiple sites, a working knowledge of site financials and reporting, and comfort with HSEQ systems and reporting
Helpful but not essential: Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent, a chemical handling ticket (ChemCert or SMARTtrain), and a Construction Induction (White) Card.
