Mandurah

Position No: 052/2026
Work Type: Permanent - Full Time

The City of Mandurah is seeking an experienced leader to lead the people and programs that keep Mandurah moving.

The opportunity

This is an opportunity to take a leading role in the maintenance and management of some of Mandurah’s most important and visible community infrastructure.

As Coordinator Roads and Drainage, you will lead the teams responsible for maintaining the City’s roads, drainage, paths, kerbs, bridges and signage and help shape how these essential services are planned and delivered into the future.

Reporting to the Manager Civil Maintenance, you will lead experienced supervisors and operational professionals, providing the direction, support and coordination they need to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality services to our community.

This is more than a day-to-day maintenance role. You will have the opportunity to influence forward works programs, asset maintenance priorities, budgets, contracts, service levels and continuous improvement across a diverse civil infrastructure portfolio.

We are continuing to strengthen our focus on proactive maintenance, forward planning, effective scheduling and better use of our systems and information. You will have the opportunity to bring your experience and ideas and play an important role in continuing that journey.

What you'll have the opportunity to do

- Lead and develop the supervisors and teams responsible for roads and bridges, drainage, paths, kerbs and signage.
- Shape annual and forward maintenance programs and influence how resources are prioritised across the City's civil infrastructure network.
- Balance proactive and programmed maintenance with emerging priorities, customer requests and operational demands.
- Lead improvements in planning, scheduling, systems and service delivery.
- Manage operational budgets and contribute to forward capital works planning.
- Manage contracts, procurement activities and external service providers supporting civil maintenance delivery.
- Oversee civil infrastructure projects and provide technical and operational advice across the organisation.
- Build strong relationships across the City, with contractors, government agencies and the community.
- Develop your people and contribute to an accountable, positive and safety-focused working workplace.
- Make a visible contribution to infrastructure and services used by the Mandurah community every day.

What you'll bring

We are looking for an experienced civil infrastructure professional who understands both the technical and people sides of operational service delivery.

To be successful, you will bring:

- A minimum of ten (10) years' relevant experience in the construction or maintenance of civil infrastructure assets.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing large operational teams in a multi-skilled environment.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience in civil infrastructure maintenance and construction.
- Experience across budgets, estimating,

project delivery, procurement and contract management.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and lead continuous improvement.
- A sound understanding of Local Government requirements and the legislative, regulatory and Australian Standards framework relevant to civil infrastructure activities.
- A current unrestricted ‘C’ class driver's licence.
- Basic Worksite Traffic Management Accreditation (desirable).
- Formal qualification in Contract Management (desirable).
- Experience in the preparation of traffic management plans (desirable).

Two pathways to this opportunity

We recognise that strong civil infrastructure leaders can develop through different career pathways.

A Degree in Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia is required for appointment at Level 9.

Applicants who do not hold the specified engineering degree but have a relevant Diploma level qualification and bring substantial relevant civil infrastructure experience and demonstrate the skills and capability required for the position may still be considered for appointment at Level 8.

This provides experienced civil infrastructure professionals without the specified degree the opportunity to be considered for the role, with classification and remuneration aligned accordingly.
