SilverPeak Construction

Melton

SilverPeak Construction is a residential renovation and building company and an NDIS registered provider, specialising in accessible bathrooms, wet areas and home modifications. Based in Bacchus Marsh and covering Melton, the western fringe and surrounding regional Victoria, we are looking for a skilled Warranty Carpenter and Handyperson to take ownership of our warranty and repair work, deliver general handyman work for our clients, and work alongside our teams on renovations.

This is a hands on role for a genuine all rounder. You come from a building or carpentry background, you are confident across plastering and caulking as well as carpentry, you have a sharp eye for defects and finishes, and you take pride in fixing things properly the first time.

About the role

The role has two sides. On the warranty side, you will travel across our regional zones carrying out warranty inspections with homeowners, documenting items, and completing approved repairs to a high standard. Warranty work on bathrooms and wet areas means plaster repairs, silicone and caulking, carpentry adjustments and general finishing, so you need to be comfortable moving between trades in a single visit.

On the handyman side, you will complete general handyman work for homeowners and NDIS clients as a service in its own right, from small repairs and installations through to maintenance jobs, along with installing assistive devices such as handrails, ramps and grab bars for our NDIS and aged care clients. You will also work alongside our renovation crews on bathroom, wet area and home modification projects, bringing your carpentry and finishing skills to the build and helping keep jobs moving.

Because you work with the crews and then see the finished work across every job, you are also our quality feedback loop. Where you find recurring defects or workmanship that falls short, you will bring it back to the team and help lift the standard so it is fixed at the source, not just on the day.

You will work closely with our Site Supervisor and use our warranty system to log and track every item through to completion.

What you will be doing

- Conducting warranty walkthroughs with homeowners and confirming what sits inside scope

- Documenting warranty items with photos and clear notes in our project management system

- Completing approved warranty repairs promptly and to building standards

- Plaster patching and repairs, caulking and silicone work, and carpentry adjustments and finishing

- General handyman work for clients, including small repairs, installations and maintenance

- Installing and maintaining assistive devices for client mobility and safety

- Working alongside our renovation crews on bathrooms, wet areas and home modifications
Identifying recurring defects and feeding them back to the crews so they are corrected going forward

- Contributing to team meetings and running upskilling sessions on quality and workmanship as required

- Coordinating return visits for trades such as plumbing and electrical where needed

- Completing daily logs and timecards

- Working to our safe work methods, including dust extraction and correct PPE on silica and dust generating tasks

- Keeping your vehicle, tools and company property maintained and in safe working order

What we are looking for

- Minimum three years experience in carpentry, construction or home renovations

- A solid all round trade base across carpentry, plastering and caulking, with the general skills to handle whatever a repair throws up

- Ability to read and interpret plans and drawings

- Sound knowledge of building codes, construction methods and safety requirements

- The confidence to call out substandard work and explain how to do it right

- Reliable, professional and able to work independently or as part of a crew

- Confident, respectful communication with homeowners, many of whom are elderly or living with disability

Must haves

- Current White Card

- Valid driver licence

- NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one before starting
[Own hand tools, if you want this in]

What we offer

- $38 to $42 per hour depending on experience, with scope to grow as you demonstrate your skills

- Fully maintained vehicle, fuel card and phone

- Uniform provided

- Paid birthday leave

- Christmas and New Year shutdown

- Steady work scheduled in advance, all within 60 km of Bacchus Marsh

- Career development and upskilling

- A role with real influence over how the business builds

- Work that genuinely improves how people live in their homes

If this sounds like you, apply now through Seek with your resume and a short note on your experience. All applications are reviewed directly by the Director.
