The key duties of the position include:

The Role

An APS 6 Project Officer works independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of their outcomes, exercising initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. Working within a small, high-performing team that directly supports delivery of capability, you will lead the coordination of key business functions, governance activities, information management, enterprise risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position supports delivery across the Program’s three workstreams by maintaining integrated plans, governance materials, risks, issues, actions, decisions, dependencies, financial information and benefits records.

The role works with multidisciplinary teams, including business, operational, digital, technology, information management, finance, procurement, legal, change and assurance specialists. The Project Officer is critical to ensuring that program information is accurate, current and visible; governance activities are well coordinated; and agreed actions and decisions progress within required timeframes. The successful candidate is organised, adaptable and produces concise, decision-ready materials in a complex project.

About our Team

Integrated Warfighting Network Systems Program Office (IWNSPO) is responsible for the acquisition, integration and sustainment of command, and control warfare systems for the Australian Defence Force across the country and in operational theatres overseas.

These capabilities include computer applications that support planning and conduct of operations, including IT infrastructure and command and control systems for deployed military forces across the five Domains. IWNSPO acquires and sustains joint-information warfare capabilities that are mission critical to all three services of the Australian Defence Force.

This role ensures that project activities are delivered efficiently by maintaining documentation, tracking progress, supporting reporting, and coordinating stakeholders across the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will have:

- Experience with project delivery across the lifecycle, including requirements, implementation, and transition to support.
- Experience coordinating tasks within project teams and working collaboratively to meet deadlines.
- Experience communicating to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including vendors and business teams.
- Experience preparing and maintaining project documentation, schedules, and status reports.
- An understanding of project budgets, enterprise technology environments, and IT change/release processes.
- Take a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing practical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop productive working relationships with stakeholders, having confidence to navigate and influence others on often complex, difficult or sensitive issues.

Eligibility

Security Clearance:

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
