The Role
Joint Proof and Experimental Unit (JPEU) is seeking a motivated and adaptable Entry Level Radiographer to join the team at the Environmental Test Facility (ETF). This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop specialist radiography skills while supporting Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) testing activities in a unique Defence environment.
The Radiographer will:
- Assist with the preparation and conduct of radiographic activities and associated tasks under supervision.
- Apply established procedures, policies and work instructions to achieve required outcomes.
- Support the development and maintenance of radiographic documentation and records.
- Learn to identify, report and assist in resolving issues relating to radiographic activities.
- Build positive working relationships with ETF team members and other JPEU personnel.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders through reports, correspondence and discussions.
- Participate in training and development activities to build technical capability.
- Ensure Defence safety requirements are understood and applied in all activities.

About our Team
The ETF conducts non-destructive test and evaluation trials on platforms explosives, munitions and other equipment across a range of environmental specialities. These specialities include climatic, radiographic and shock and vibration. The ETF supports GWEO test and evaluation activities. It has capabilities enabling the climatic, non-destructive, vibration and mechanical testing of items, and other elements for artificial aging of Defence explosive ordnance. The JPEU engineering team also provide direct support to the ETF. Employment at Port Wakefield also currently attracts a Special Defence Locality Assistance allowance of $309.85 per fortnight.
Our Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will work with a diverse range of customers and be able to function in a small team. This team will be dynamic and will work within an integrated environment of Australian Public Servants, Australian Defence Force personnel and Defence Industry Support Personnel.
They will have the ability to interpret customer requirements, technical standards, follow set work procedures,
produce trial activity reports and utilise a variety of technical and non-technical equipment, in order to capture required data. They will have a keen eye for detail, and be able to identify potential issues within the data/test setup that may affect quality of data or accuracy of data for items being tested.
The right person for this role will show the flexibility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities of JPEU, to achieve business outcomes. In this role, the individual will provide support to a geographically dispersed team.

Security Clearance:
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
