The key duties of the position include:

The Role

Your role will be to lead the Directorate of Materiel Protection where you will develop, implement and oversee a range of policy and technology programs protecting Australia’s most sensitive sovereign technologies.

As Director Materiel Protection:

- You will have a leading role in developing and implementing policies and programs to protect technologies and systems critical to Australia’s national security.
- You can expect to develop and manage integrated business and technical programs across whole of capability, whole of lifecycle, whole of enterprise. Establish policy, doctrine, and authoritative knowledge frameworks. Engage across Defence, Agencies, and Industry to deliver outcomes.
- You will coordinate and integrate high-level Electronic, Cyber and Systems Engineering processes across a suite of new and developing technology programs.
- Your day will consist of engineering, technology, and security reviews, program management, stakeholder engagement, team leadership and building culture across a small expert team.

About our Team

The Directorate of Materiel Protection leads a small team of specialists within Technology and Security Branch in the Defence Delivery Group. As Director Materiel Protection, you will work closely with other directorates within the Engineering Technology & Materiel Logistics Division, the broader DDG and with government and industry stakeholders. Your team will deliver Materiel Protection specific outcomes as part of our integrated professional engineering, cyber and logistics service offering.

We are looking for:

- A professional engineer or technologist who is committed to delivering high-quality outcomes and achieving objectives within an established performance framework.
- A thoughtful and innovative practitioner who can contribute to the development and implementation of secure-by-design technology protection approaches across the broad Defence ecosystem.




- Proven experience in Engineering, Cyber, Security, Procurement, and Business management.
- A leader who can achieve complex goals and outcomes with a small expert team, and across a broad Defence, Government and Industry stakeholder group.
- Please note the successful candidate will be required to gain and maintain a Positive Vetting level security clearance.

Eligibility

Security Clearance:

Prior to commencement, successful applicants will be required to undergo a psychological assessment and an extensive security clearance process. As a Positive Vetting clearance is required, applicants must be Australian Citizens; be able to account for their personal background for their whole life; and be able to demonstrate suitability to work in a high security intelligence environment.

Mandatory Qualifications:

This position requires the individual to have obtained Engineers Australia Chartered Engineering Associate recognition (or ability to obtain status as of a Chartered Engineering Associate within three months) or relevant skills and work experience such that an individual can reasonably achieve a recognised AQF qualification if required by the position.
