The Payroll, Aurion and HR Help Team works closely with other areas across PM&C; to deliver a high-quality payroll service, Aurion system support and helpdesk function for PM&C; and MOU agencies. The Team is highly engaged, experienced and capable with a strong focus on accuracy, service delivery and accountability.
What you will do
As the Aurion System Administrator, you will work in a small team responsible for the management of the Human Resources Management Information System (Aurion) for the department.
The position is responsible for the following:
- Configuration and maintenance of the Aurion system to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies and guidelines.
- Execution of the fortnightly pay run in accordance with agreed timeframes including processing of the pay run, reconciliation of the pay to ensure payroll is accurate and disbursement of associated reporting including creditor information.
- Organisation structure and position maintenance.
- Upload and management of payroll files through the banking software.
- Develop, validate and deliver regular and ad hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders using Aurion Query Tool and other reporting tools.
- Testing and implementation of upgrades, system enhancements and IT integrations in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
- Maintenance and regular review of appropriate system controls to ensure high levels of system security.
- Develop and maintain documentation including standard operating procedures, checklists and staff notices where required.
- Work closely with colleagues to identify and implement payroll and Aurion system priorities and project activities.
- Assist staff with Aurion related queries.

- Demonstrated experience as an Aurion systems administrator, with strong Aurion technical skills, attention to detail, analytical skills and a proven ability to achieve results.
- Demonstrated experience in the system application of pay and conditions of service policies, procedures and employment provisions.
- Sound written and oral communications skills.
- Proven ability to mentor staff in the development of Aurion technical capability.
- Demonstrated capacity to facilitate cooperative and collaborative relationships and consult and engage with staff, clients and stakeholders.
- Positive approach to drive process and system improvement.
- Demonstrated high standard of professionalism and integrity.
Eligibility
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing. At PM&C; to be eligible for this position you should be an Australian Citizen by the completion of the recruitment process, except under exceptional circumstances.
- The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.
- The successful candidate will be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks,
such as an Australian Criminal History Check, and will normally be subject to a six-month probation period if recent to the APS or has not yet completed their probation period elsewhere in the APS.

Ongoing & Non-ongoing (for a period of up to 24 months)
This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the PM&C; delegate.
Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for a maximum period of two (2) years. If the initial contract is for less than 2 years, it may be extended or renewed once, up to the 2 year limit.
A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment, however this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.
