Join our team as an Executive Officer and make a meaningful contribution to the work of the Administrative Review Tribunal.
This exciting full-time role is available on an ongoing basis and can be located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney.
Regular office attendance of at least one day per week is required for this hybrid role, with additional days as needed.
About the opportunity
This Executive Officer role sits within the Member Performance team and provides support to Senior and General Members, Jurisdictional Area Leaders and List Leaders across the Tribunal. You will help administer the member performance standard and deliver accurate, timely reporting that informs the assessment of member performance.
The Member Performance team is small, collaborative and highly valued, with work that has a broad operational and corporate impact across the Tribunal.

The key duties of the position include:
- Service Delivery: Provide high-quality executive support, ensuring consistent, timely and high-quality services to internal users.
Contribute to the development and delivery of effective service delivery strategies consistent with the needs of internal users and the Tribunal’s statutory and other objectives. Use sound judgement to effectively manage complex issues.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to further the achievement of the Tribunal’s statutory objectives and to facilitate the work of the section. Anticipate and respond to stakeholder needs and expectations. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure coordinated delivery of support for Jurisdictional Area Leaders and List Leaders.
- Innovation and Change: Adopt new or changed ways of working and generate solutions to enhance the Tribunal’s capacity for providing consistent, high-quality, and accessible services to users. Contribute to a culture of embracing change and continuous improvement.
- Strategic and Operational Advice: Provide accurate day-to-day advice and guidance to colleagues on executive support matters. Undertake appropriate treatment of risks, escalating as appropriate.
About you
We are looking for a capable, proactive and adaptable professional who can build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, work collaboratively and handle sensitive matters with discretion. You will bring sound judgement, strong analytical and communication skills, and the initiative to deliver quality outcomes while balancing competing priorities in a complex and changing environment.

The ART plays a crucial role in the Australian legal landscape, providing a process for individuals and organisations to seek an independent review of decisions made under a wide range of Commonwealth laws. The ART can take a fresh look at decisions made by Australian Government ministers, departments and agencies – and, in limited circumstances, decisions made by state government and non-government bodies. It also can review decisions made under Norfolk Island laws.
