We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to fill the role of the Legal Procurement Officer within the Legal Practice Management Section (LPMS).

Working closely with the team and the other stakeholders, the role supports procurement, finance and reporting functions for the Legal Division ensuring adherence with legislative requirements and compliance with procurement, legal and policy frameworks.

The key duties of the position include:

Key capabilities:

- Strong understanding of the Commonwealth Resource Management Framework including the ability to provide guidance to staff on the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability (PGPA) Act 2013 and associated rules and policies.
- Experience using financial management systems (such as SAP) to record procurement activities and raise purchase orders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability for adaptability, exercising sound judgement and strong prioritisation and time management skills to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Digital literacy across Microsoft Office, SharePoint and Content Manager.
- The ability to provide practical and accurate solutions and translate technical information coherently and concisely for a range of stakeholders.
- A commitment to continuous improvement, including identifying opportunities to innovate, streamline processes and increase the effective use of digital tools.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships.

Desirable experience:

- Demonstrated experience with finance, procurement, IT and knowledge management systems.
- Experience drafting work orders or contracts for services.
- Previous experience in a Commonwealth Government legal workplace.
- The ability to draft and maintain standard operating procedures and other guidance material.

Eligibility





- To be eligible for employment with the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, applicants must be an Australian citizen at the time an offer of employment is made.
- An applicant’s suitability for employment with Health will also be assessed through a variety of pre-employment check processes, such as:
- Satisfactory completion of a criminal history check, and where relevant, a Working with Children and Vulnerable People Check,
- Completion of a medical declaration and pre-employment medical (where required).

- This recruitment process is being used to fill both ongoing and non-ongoing positions. Non-ongoing positions will be offered on a specified term basis for an initial period of up to 12 months with the possibility of being extended (this will not exceed a total of 24 months in the same or similar role).
