Build quality into the drawings, and capability into the team

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Civil Drafter to strengthen our drafting and design capability across a growing portfolio of transport and infrastructure projects.

This is a hands-on senior role for someone who knows Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) drafting standards in depth. You’ll not only produce accurate, high-quality design documentation, but also help other team members understand and consistently apply those standards.

As our Senior Civil Drafter, you’ll work closely with engineers, designers and other technical specialists to develop and deliver civil design drawings and documentation across transport and infrastructure projects.

A key part of the role is increasing our internal drafting capacity. You’ll take ownership of drafting activities that might otherwise sit with engineers or senior technical staff, helping the wider team focus their time where it adds most value and supporting the timely delivery of design packages.

Day to day, you’ll:

- Produce and coordinate civil drawings and design documentation using AutoCAD and 12d Model interface
- Apply Queensland TMR drafting standards accurately and consistently across project deliverables
- Review drafting outputs for quality, consistency and compliance before issue
- Translate engineering designs, mark-ups and technical information into clear, accurate drawings
- Work with engineers and designers to resolve drafting and documentation issues
- Support projects to meet agreed programmes and budgets
- Provide practical guidance, coaching and training to other drafters on TMR requirements and drafting practices
- Contribute to improving drafting processes, templates and quality across the team.





Essential

- Significant experience in civil drafting, ideally across transport, roads and/or infrastructure projects
- Strong working knowledge of Queensland TMR drafting standards, at a level where you can confidently guide and train others
- Demonstrated experience producing civil design and construction documentation
- Solid capability with AutoCAD
- The judgement to work independently, identify drafting issues and coordinate solutions with engineers and designers
- A thorough approach to checking drawings, document control and design-standard compliance
- Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage competing project priorities.

Desirable
- Experience working alongside 12d Model
- A tertiary qualification in Civil Drafting, Engineering or a related discipline
- Previous experience mentoring, coaching or technically reviewing the work of other drafters
- Experience working within engineering consultancy and multidisciplinary project environments.

You’ll work alongside civil engineering, design and surveying professionals, collaborating across project teams rather than operating as a standalone drafting resource. The role is based in our Brisbane CBD office.

This role will suit someone who enjoys being the technical point of reference for drafting, while remaining hands-on with project delivery.
