About the role n

We are seeking an Experienced Carpenter in Deck Building & Repairs to join our team at Altar Decks. This is an excellent prospect to contribute your skills to a growing decking business on the Gold Coast.

Key responsibilities n

Build, construct, and assemble decking structures from initial design through to completion, ensuring compliance with building codes and safety standards

n

Repair and renovate existing decks, including structural assessments

n

Measure, cut, and shape timber and composite materials to precise specifications

n

Install railings, stairs, and other decking components with accuracy and attention to detail

n

Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met and address any issues promptly

n

Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and follow all workplace health and safety protocols

n

Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers to ensure project requirements are understood and met

What we're looking for n

A current, valid carpentry qualification or recognised trade certification demonstrating competency in carpentry work

n

Proven experience in deck building, construction, or related carpentry projects

n

Strong knowledge of timber and composite materials, their properties, and appropriate applications

n





Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised decking equipment safely and effectively

n

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications accurately

n

Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship

n

Sufficient understanding of building codes, regulations, and safety requirements relevant to decking construction

n

Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team

n

Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour, including working at heights where necessary

n

A willingness to communicate clearly with customers and take pride in delivering exceptional results

n

A valid driver's license and access to reliable transport
