Job Description
SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP) System Administrator n
Own and enhance an SAP ECP payroll environment. Deliver hands-on configuration, new functionality and critical payroll improvements.
n
Our client is an established organisation investing in its HR technology and payroll systems. With a strong focus on system reliability, compliance and continuous improvement, they are seeking an experienced SAP Payroll specialist to take ownership of their Employee Central Payroll (ECP) environment.
n
This is an opportunity to join a collaborative team and play a key role in supporting and enhancing a complex enterprise payroll landscape.
Description n
Reporting into the HRIS leadership team, you will take ownership of the administration, configuration and ongoing development of SAP Employee Central Payroll.
n
This is a senior, hands-on position requiring someone who can independently design, build and deliver new payroll functionality rather than solely maintaining existing configurations.
n
Key responsibilities include:
n
n
- Own the day-to-day administration, configuration and enhancement of SAP ECP.
n
- Design, develop and maintain payroll schemas, Personnel Calculation Rules (PCRs) and wage types.
n
- Configure current payroll functionality to support evolving business requirements and legislative changes.
n
- Manage payroll configuration including wage type valuation, deductions, garnishments, off-cycle processing and leave entitlements.
n
- Coordinate SAP releases, patches and legislative updates, including impact assessments and regression testing.
n
- Support payroll testing and parallel runs to ensure accurate payroll processing.
n
- Maintain integrations between SAP Employee Central, ECP and external systems.
n
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex payroll configuration issues and incidents.
n
- Monitor system performance, data integrity and payroll processing to proactively identify potential issues.
n
- Maintain configuration documentation, technical specifications and standard operating procedures.
n
- Collaborate with HR, Payroll, Finance and IT stakeholders to deliver ongoing platform improvements.
n
Profile n
The successful candidate will be an experienced SAP Payroll specialist with strong hands‑on configuration experience and the ability to independently deliver new system functionality.
n
You will bring:
n
n
- 8+ years of overall SAP experience, including at least 5 years dedicated to SAP ECP or traditional SAP HCM Payroll.
n
- Proven hands‑on experience configuring payroll schemas, Personnel Calculation Rules (PCRs) and wage types.
n
- Demonstrated ability to design and develop new payroll functionality, rather than solely supporting existing configurations.
n
- Experience participating in at least one full‑cycle SAP ECP implementation, migration or major upgrade.
n
- Strong understanding of payroll processing, system configuration and troubleshooting.
n
- Experience managing payroll releases, regression testing and parallel payroll runs.
n
- Ability to independently investigate and resolve complex payroll configuration issues.
n
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working alongside Payroll, HR, Finance and IT teams.
n
- Excellent documentation skills and a proactive approach to system improvement.
n
n
Highly regarded:
n
n
- Experience configuring Australian payroll requirements, including taxation, superannuation and long service leave.
n
- SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central integration experience.
n
- Experience working within complex enterprise payroll environments.
n
- Exposure to multiple payroll areas, pay groups and evolving legislative requirements.
n
Job Offer n
n
- Competitive salary of $160,000-$180,000, depending on experience.
n
- Permanent, full‑time opportunity within an established organisation.
n
- Genuine ownership of an enterprise SAP Employee Central Payroll environment.
n
- Opportunity to design and deliver new functionality rather than focusing solely on BAU support.
n
- Work closely with key HR, Payroll and technology stakeholders.
n
- Flexible working arrangements, including one day working from home.
n
- Brisbane‑based role with exposure to complex and evolving payroll requirements.
n
- Opportunity to contribute to ongoing system enhancements and technology improvements.
