The Trainee Accountant provides day-to-day support to the Finance team across general accounting and administrative activities. This is a junior position with the opportunity to gradually take on additional accounting responsibilities as experience and confidence develop. This role reports to Accounting Manager.

The Trainee Accountant provides day-to-day support to the Finance team across general accounting and administrative activities. This is a junior position with the opportunity to gradually take on additional accounting responsibilities as experience and confidence develop. This role reports to Accounting Manager.
Key Responsibilities n
n
- Assist with accounts payable tasks such as processing invoices and assisting with supplier payments.
n
- Assist with employee expense claims and follow up supporting receipts.
n
- Maintain supplier and customer information in the accounting system.
n
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations.
n
- Prepare and process journal entries under supervision.
n
- Assist with month-end activities as required.
n
- Prepare basic reports and spreadsheets for the Finance team.
n
- Assist with collecting information and supporting documents for audits.
n
- Coordinate and book employee business travel, including flights and accommodation.
n
- Maintain finance records,
documents and filing.
n
- Assist with general finance administration as required.
n
- Provide general support to the wider Finance team.
n
- Gradually take on additional accounting duties as knowledge and experience develop.
n
Skills & Experience nn
- Studying towards or recently completed a qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
n
- Basic understanding of accounting principles.
n
- Good Microsoft Excel and general computer skills.
n
- Valuable attention to detail and accuracy.
n
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
n
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
n
- Willingness to learn and develop.
n
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
n
- Previous office, administration or accounting experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
n
Development of the Role n
This position is intended to develop over time. As experience and capability grow, the Trainee Accountant will gradually become involved in additional areas such as month-end journals, balance sheet reconciliations, reporting, budgeting and other accounting activities, with appropriate training and supervision.
