We are seeking experienced and motivated Senior Cloud Architects / Cloud Engineers to support the delivery of a range of ICT projects within a federal government setting.

This is a senior-level opportunity suited to professionals with 5+ years of experience implementing, managing and designing cloud-based systems, with strong expertise across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.

Key responsibilities nn
- Develop enterprise-level cloud platform architectures across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
n
- Develop high-level solution architectures for cloud-based systems.
n
- Produce detailed architecture guidance for cloud engineers and delivery teams.
n
- Assess stakeholder and user requirements and provide impact analysis.
n
- Provide technical guidance and input into the design and implementation of cloud-based solutions.
n
- Ensure enterprise and system solutions align with whole-of-government standards and relevant architecture principles.
n
- Collaborate with business owners, Scrum Masters, Business Analysts, Developers, Enterprise Architects and Testers to deliver solutions aligned with project objectives.
n




- Work with Service Experience teams to ensure architectural decisions incorporate user experience considerations.
n
- Liaise with ICT Engagement and Enterprise Architecture teams to maintain alignment with target architectures and technology strategies.
n
- Provide expertise and support across platform automation, testing, continuous integration and continuous deployment.
n
- Support the application of enterprise architecture principles across cloud platforms, including reuse, configuration and open data/access.
n
- Promote solutions that align with the Digital Service Standard.
n
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and influence across multidisciplinary teams.
n
- Undertake additional duties as required.
n

Highly desirable criteria nn
- 5+ years' demonstrated experience implementing and managing cloud systems and technologies.
n
- Strong experience across Microsoft Azure cloud services, including:
n
- Azure App Services
n
- Azure Functions
n
- Azure Logic Apps
n
- Azure SQL
n
- Azure Service Bus
n
- Azure API Management
n
- Strong experience with Azure DevOps, including source code management, repositories, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD deployments.
n
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor and Application Insights.
n
- Demonstrated experience integrating cloud-based systems with third-party platforms, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM.
n
- Strong understanding of Azure networking, security and identity capabilities, including Virtual Networks, Private Endpoints and Role-Based Access Control.
n
- Experience working with Agile, multidisciplinary teams to deliver secure, reliable and user-friendly solutions.
n




- Ability to work effectively with geographically dispersed teams and technical and non-technical stakeholders.
n
- Demonstrated ability to mentor team members and contribute positively to collaborative team environments.
n

Desirable criteria nn
- Demonstrated track record of providing technical leadership across project and operational activities.
n
- Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies, architectures and modern cloud delivery practices.
n
- Experience across application and integration architecture and/or infrastructure platform architecture.
n
- Minimum 3 years' experience designing and documenting architectures for large, complex enterprise systems.
n
- Experience with AWS and/or GCP is desirable but not essential.
n
- Experience working within Australian Government or other highly regulated environments will be advantageous.
n

Skills and experience nn
- Strong cloud architecture and engineering experience, particularly across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
n
- The ability to develop and manage enterprise and application-level architectures.
n
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
n
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
n
- The ability to translate business and technical requirements into practical cloud solutions.
n
- Strong understanding of cloud security, networking, identity and integration.
n
- Experience with automation, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD practices.
n
- Ability to provide technical guidance while working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
n
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt priorities and scope as requirements evolve.
n
- A strategic mindset with the ability to influence technical decisions and promote sound enterprise architecture principles.
n
- Australian Government Baseline security clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
n
