Murray Cod Australia is seeking experienced and motivated Leading Hands to support our production operations within a fast-paced FMCG food processing environment.

n

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who understands that strong production outcomes are driven by good process, quality control, transparent communication, safety and effective team leadership.

n

You will work closely with Production, Quality and Management teams to ensure daily production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and in accordance with food safety and quality standards.

n

The Role

n

As a Leading Hand, you will help coordinate day-to-day production activities while providing practical, hands-on leadership to employees on shift.

n

Key responsibilities include:

n

n
- Supporting the daily production plan and achievement of production targets.
n
- Providing hands-on leadership, direction and support to production employees.
n
- Ensuring employees follow approved production processes, SOPs and work instructions.
n
- Monitoring product quality and escalating food safety or quality concerns promptly.
n
- Working closely with Production, Quality and Management to maintain operational standards.
n
- Supporting line setup, workflow, labour allocation and production changeovers.
n
- Identifying production bottlenecks and assisting with practical solutions.
n
- Monitoring productivity, waste, downtime and general production performance.
n
- Ensuring production, quality and operational records are completed accurately.
n
- Supporting employee training, onboarding and competency development.
n
- Reinforcing GMP, hygiene, housekeeping and food safety requirements.
n
- Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring WHS procedures are followed.
n
- Supporting stock and product movements within the processing environment.
n




- Providing clear shift handovers and communicating outstanding issues to the next shift or management.
n

About You

n

We are looking for individuals with experience in production, food manufacturing, FMCG, processing, warehousing or another high-volume operational environment.

n

You will ideally have:

n

n
- Previous experience as a Leading Hand, Team Leader, Production Supervisor or experienced production operator.
n
- A strong understanding of production processes and the importance of following established procedures.
n
- Experience working in a quality-controlled or food manufacturing environment.
n
- A practical understanding of GMP, food safety and quality requirements.
n
- The ability to lead employees while remaining hands-on within the operation.
n
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
n
- The ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing production priorities.
n
- A strong focus on productivity, quality, safety and continuous improvement.
n
- Good attention to detail and confidence completing production documentation.
n
- A reliable, proactive and team-focused approach to work.
n
- A Light Rigid (LR) Driver Licence is desirable but not essential.
n
- Experience within seafood, meat processing, food manufacturing, cold storage or FMCG production will be highly regarded.
n
