About the opportunity n

We're seeking a Commercial & Contracts Specialist to strengthen our in-house commercial capability.

n

This is a newly created role with the opportunity to help shape how Biodiversity Australia manages contracts, commercial risk and supporting processes as the business continues to grow.

Responsibilities n

n
- Draft, review and negotiate supply agreements, master service agreements and other commercial contracts
n
- Coordinate client contract reviews and execution, working with internal stakeholders and supporting commercial negotiations
n
- Monitor contractual obligations, pricing reviews, escalations and key commercial requirements
n
- Partner with project teams to provide practical advice on contractual requirements, commercial risks and billing arrangements
n
- Drive improvements to commercial processes and our business-wide Delegation of Authority (DOA) framework
n
- Support supplier onboarding, billing setup and other commercial processes to ensure appropriate governance and compliance
n

About you n

You'll be a commercially minded,



detail-focused professional who can provide sound contract advice while remaining comfortable working across the practical requirements of a growing business.

Requirements n

n
- Experience in commercial contracts, contract management, procurement or a related commercial role
n
- Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements
n
- Experience using, or a solid interest in leveraging, AI tools to improve commercial processes, efficiency and decision-making
n
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
n
- Sound commercial judgement and the ability to identify and communicate contractual risk
n
- A practical approach and willingness to work across both strategic and hands-on commercial activities
n
- Experience using Power BI or other reporting tools to analyse commercial data and support decision-making will be highly regarded.
