Job Description
Support Workers / Mentors – Multiple Sydney Locations n
CoastCare Sydney is recruiting experienced, reliable and engaging Support Workers and Mentors to join our MentorMate and SisterLink programs.
n
These roles are suited to people who are passionate about building genuine professional relationships and supporting participants to develop independence, confidence, life skills and meaningful community connections.
n
We currently have a combination of regular ongoing shifts and casual coverage opportunities available across Sydney.
Current Opportunities MentorMate Newtown n
n
- Mondays, 10:00 am–6:00 pm
n
- Regular ongoing shift
n
- Additional capacity to provide ad hoc coverage on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays is highly desirable
n
Austral nn
- Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 3:00 pm–5:00 pm
n
- Casual coverage opportunity
n
Sutherland Shire nn
- Casual coverage across approximately three to four participants
n
- Seven-day roster availability is desirable
n
- Current priority days include Mondays, Wednesdays and weekends
n
- Applicants with adaptable availability across the Shire will be strongly considered
n
SisterLink Blacktown nn
- Current priority shifts include Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and some weekends
n
- Typical shift time: 2:00 pm–10:00 pm
n
- Opportunity for approximately two to three regular ongoing shifts per week
n
- Applicants with availability across a seven-day roster are preferred
n
Pennant Hills and Warrawee nn
- Regular ongoing opportunities across two participants
n
- Preferred availability: n n
- Mondays and Tuesdays, 11:00 am–2:00 pm
n
- Saturday mornings
n
n
About the Role n
Depending on the participant’s individual needs and goals, responsibilities may include:
n
n
- Providing strengths-based mentoring and disability support
n
- Supporting participants to build independence and daily living skills
n
- Facilitating community access and social participation
n
- Supporting participants to attend appointments, activities and community programs
n
- Encouraging confidence,
emotional regulation and positive decision-making
n
- Maintaining clear and professional boundaries
n
- Completing accurate case notes and shift documentation
n
- Following individual support plans, risk-management strategies and escalation proceduresCommunicating effectively with participants, families and the CoastCare Sydney team
n
About You n
We are looking for applicants who are:

- Reliable, consistent and committed to providing continuity of support
n
- Person-centred, engaging and able to build positive professional relationships
n
- Confident supporting participants in the community
n
- Able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries
n
- Proactive, organised and responsive to workplace communication
n
- Comfortable completing electronic case notes and required documentation
n
- Willing to accept regular shifts that genuinely match their ongoing availability
n
n
Previous disability, mental health, youth work, mentoring, community services or psychosocial-support experience is highly regarded.
Essential Requirements n
Successful applicants must hold or be willing to obtain:
n
n
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
n
- Working with Children Check, where applicable
n
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
n
- Valid driver’s licence
n
- Access to a reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle
n
- Relevant work rights in Australia
n
- Required NDIS orientation and worker training modules
n
n
Relevant qualifications in disability, community services, youth work, mental health, social work or a related field are desirable.
n
NB Due to the personal nature of the supports provided and the participant’s documented support preferences, being (female/male) is a genuine occupational qualification for this specific position. This requirement applies only to the identified participant-facing role and is consistent with section 31(2)(h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
