Finance and Payroll Lead – 4 Days per Week

About the role

n

Mosaic Multicultural Connections is seeking an experienced Finance and Payroll Lead to join our Support Services team.

n

This is a hands-on role combining accounting, payroll, financial reporting, and compliance with day-to-day oversight of our Finance Officer.

n

Working 30.4 hours across four days per week , you will play an important role in ensuring Mosaic’s finance and payroll operations are accurate, timely and well controlled.

n

The position is offered as an initial 6-month fixed-term contract , with the position to be reviewed towards the end of the contract period based on Mosaic’s ongoing organisational and operational requirements.

What you’ll be responsible for

n

n
- Overseeing day-to-day finance processing and reviewing accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations and general ledger transactions.
n
- Preparing journals, balance sheet reconciliations and supporting month-end and year-end processes.
n
- Processing fortnightly payroll and maintaining payroll settings, award rates, classifications, allowances, and entitlements.
n
- Supporting compliance with the SCHADS Award and relevant payroll requirements.
n
- Preparing monthly management accounts, financial reports, and variance commentary.
n
- Supporting budgets, forecasts, and reforecasts.
n
- Monitoring statutory obligations including superannuation, BAS and IAS.
n
- Maintaining accurate, compliant, and audit-ready financial records.
n
- Providing day-to-day supervision, guidance, and quality oversight to the Finance Officer.
n
- Identifying discrepancies and emerging financial issues and escalating material or complex matters when required.

About you

n





You’ll be an experienced finance professional who enjoys being hands-on, working with the detail and taking ownership of getting things done accurately and on time.

n

You will bring:

n

n
- A degree qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent.
n
- Demonstrated experience in a similar accounting or finance role.
n
- Experience using Xero and financial processing systems.
n
- Payroll processing experience and a strong understanding of payroll compliance.
n
- Experience applying the SCHADS Award in payroll or finance administration.
n
- Strong reconciliation and financial reporting skills.
n
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
n
- Confidence investigating discrepancies and resolving day-to-day finance issues.
n
- The ability to provide practical guidance and oversight to a Finance Officer.
n
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and employee management/reporting systems.
n

CPA/CA or working towards qualification, not-for-profit experience and experience using Employment Hero will be highly regarded.
