An opportunity has become available for aSenior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Respiratory and Sleep Medicine) to joinGold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 14 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

About the role n

Provide comprehensive clinical care to patients with respiratory disease across the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS). It is expected that the applicant would have completed advanced training in the field of Respiratory Medicine and have gained expertise in managing patients. Fellowship in Mycobacterial diseases is highly sought after to complement current services in the department. This position will complement the newly established Chronic Cough Clinic, Mycobacterial and Bronchiectasis service. In addition, having accreditation in the field of Sleep Medicine and having administrative qualification to run a sleep lab would be highly desirable. Clinical responsibilities will include participation in in-patient and out-patient care, with the existing Respiratory Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Consultants in a multidisciplinary environment under the guidance of the Medical Director of Respiratory. Provide qualified leadership in the area of general Respiratory Medicine and Mycobacterial diseases by providing training, education and supervision of registrars,



junior medical staff and other health care providers attached to this department. It is anticipated that the successful applicant will develop a multidisciplinary Bronchiectasis service, Chronic Cough Clinic and facilitate collaboration with other centres and lead the research activity within this unit.

Requirements for the role n

- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B.
n
- Tuberculosis screening - to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required.
n
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed.
n
- MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia plus FRACP or equivalent acceptable to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and registrable as a Respiratory and Sleep Medicine specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

- Certified copies of relevant qualification/s and registration must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.

- The incumbent will be required to participate in an after-hours and on-call roster for the Respiratory Department.

Salary information nn
- Permanent part time (32 hours per fortnight)
n
- Senior Staff Specialist : Base hourly rate from $127.85 - $135.55 p.h
n
- Staff Specialist : Base hourly rate from $106.91 - $124.18 p.h
n
- Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
