Gowings Bros is seeking a creative, energetic In-House Visual Merchandiser & Marketing Assistant to bring our shopping centre to life. This role is ideal for someone with a strong eye for design who enjoys hands‑on visual merchandising, styling spaces, and supporting community‑focused events and markets. This position is primarily focused on visual merchandising (approximately 80%), with additional marketing support (approximately 20%), particularly around local markets, centre events, and community activations at Coffs Central Shopping Centre.

Key responsibilities

- Design, install, and refresh engaging window displays, in‑centre activations, and seasonal décor
- Maintain high visual standards across common areas and occasionally retailer spaces
- Ensure all displays align with branding, campaigns, and seasonal themes
- Assist with displays at Port Central approximately one day every 3-4 weeks
- Work with retailers to enhance in‑store presentation and visual merchandising
- Provide guidance, best‑practice advice, and visual standards support




- Assist with workshops or training sessions for retail teams
- Coordinate with third‑party suppliers for display installations where required
- Style and support centre events, promotions, and product launches
- Design and install signage, props, and visual elements for events

About you

- Experience in visual merchandising, retail styling, interior design, or a related field
- Strong creative ability with an excellent eye for colour, layout, and detail
- Understanding of branding, marketing campaigns, and customer engagement
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience in event styling, signage, and display installations (preferred)
- Hands‑on creative role in a dynamic retail environment
