Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Orchard Hand to join our citrus operations team.

Our orchard hands have a variety of jobs to do - n

n
- tractor operations including slashing, mulching and spraying the orchard
n
- general machinery maintenance
n
- monitor and identify pest and disease issues and report them to the supervisor.
n
- irrigation repairs and general farm maintenance
n
- tree maintenance and preparation for recent plantings
n
- assisting with parts and consumable stocktakes and inventory management
n
- cleaning and maintenance of machinery and the workshop
n
- supporting the harvest teams in the field (this is not a fruit picking job)
n
- loading/unloading trucks
n
- general farm maintenance tasks
n
- work closely with other experienced farm staff to ensure the health and productivity of our orchards.
n

n

Orchard hands must be confident and comfortable operating tractors with a range of implements, working safely amongst trees and irrigation infrastructure.

n

A senior orchard hand will bring a mix of hands-on technical skills, leadership, and operational awareness.

n

This position is ongoing casual, with up to full time hours and occasional weekend work. Future company progression including opportunities for permanent positions will be considered for the right candidates.

n

This is a hands-on, outdoor role involving regular physical activity such as lifting, walking, standing and bending throughout the day.

Qualifications nn
- Valid driver’s license is required.
n
- Must be legally entitled to work in Australia
n
- Forklift licence and AgChem Certification is required (or willingness to obtain)
n

Training will be provided, and there are opportunities for career progression for the right person.

n

Our general work hours are Monday to Friday, with some weekend work during harvest and the busy summer season. Early starts are normal, especially in warmer months.

n

Pay and conditions are in accordance with the Horticulture Award 2020, with casual positions starting at Level 3 - $33.55/hr.
