Job Description
CivilPlus Constructions is a locally owned and operated Civil & Marine Infrastructure company based in Townsville. We are looking for a motivated Apprentice Diesel Fitter to join our team and begin their career in the civil construction industry.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a genuine interest in diesel mechanics, heavy machinery and working with their hands to complete a nationally recognised apprenticeship while gaining practical experience across a diverse fleet of civil construction plant and equipment.

About the Role n
As an Apprentice Diesel Fitter, you will work alongside our experienced fitters and workshop team to learn how to service, maintain, diagnose and repair a wide range of civil construction plant and equipment.
n
You’ll gain exposure to both workshop and operational environments, giving you the opportunity to develop practical skills while completing the formal training requirements of your apprenticeship.
n
Equipment and systems you may work with include:
n
n
- Excavators, loaders, dozers and graders.
n
- Heavy vehicles and trailers.
n
- Pumps, generators and small plant.
n
- Hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.
n
Key Responsibilities n
As your skills and experience develop, you will assist with:
n
n
- Servicing and preventative maintenance of plant, equipment and vehicles.
n
- Identifying and assisting with mechanical faults and repairs.
n
- Inspection and maintenance of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.
n
- Maintaining workshop tools, equipment and work areas.
n
- Completing service and maintenance records.
n
- Following manufacturer specifications and CivilPlus maintenance procedures.
n
- Working safely and following workplace health and safety requirements.
n
- Supporting experienced fitters with workshop and field-based maintenance activities.
n
- Completing the practical and theoretical requirements of your apprenticeship.
n
- Taking an active role in developing your skills and trade knowledge.
n
About You n
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about starting a career as a Diesel Fitter and is ready to learn.
n
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
n
n
- A genuine interest in diesel mechanics, heavy machinery and civil construction equipment.
n
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
n
- A reliable and safety-focused approach to work.
n
- The ability to listen, follow instructions and take feedback onboard.
n
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
n
- Pride in the quality of your work.
n
- A willingness to complete both practical and theoretical apprenticeship training.
n
- A current Driver Licence or be working towards obtaining one.
n
- Previous mechanical experience isn't essential - we're looking for someone with the right attitude, genuine interest and commitment to learning a trade.
