A leading Australian company is seeking an employment senior legal counsel. The role will report into the General Counsel - Legal and Risk andinvolve working closely with senior management and stakeholders across the business. This is a leadership role within an established team which supports the organisation across employment, workplace relations, defamation litigation, discrimination litigation, conduct and integrity, and safety.
Key Responsibilities n
n
- Providing strategic legal advice on a range of employment and workplace matters
n
- Providing expert advice on employment and workplace relations matters, with a focus on disputes management
n
- Assisting in developing policies and procedures in line with legislative requirements
n
- Monitoring and identifying emerging employment and work place issues and developments
n
- Working closely with and advising the People & Culture team with managing and resolving workplace complaints and investigations and disciplinary proceedings.
n
- Acting as the central legal escalation point for the most complex, sensitive and high‑risk employment and conduct disputes
n
- Leading the preparation of evidence, submissions and affidavits for Court and Commission proceedings
n
- Contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Key Requirements nn
- Ideally a minimum of 10 years PQE
n
- Previous employment law experience gained from a renowned law firm or In-House organisation
n
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic advice and counsel in relation to complex legal issues in the areas of employee relations, industrial relations, WHS and anti-discrimination laws.
n
- Proven experience in advising across a broad range of employment-related areas, including; appropriate workplace behaviour, workplace health and safety, performance management, disciplinary proceeding and workplace complaints and investigations.
n
- Solid commercial acumen and the ability to prioritise multiple matters and stakeholders
n
- Excellent influencing and negotiating skills
n
- A positive attitude and someone who enjoys working as part of a team as well as autonomously.
