About the company/role: nn
- An exciting opportunity exists for a mid-career Mechanical Engineer with 2+ years' post-graduate experience to join a small, high-performing engineering team. Working on advanced silicon enrichment projects, you will play a key role in the design, drafting, fabrication, assembly and commissioning of specialised mechanical systems.

- This is a hands-on position suited to a pragmatic, outcome-driven engineer who enjoys contributing across the full project lifecycle. You will work closely with Mechanical Engineers, Technicians, the Workshop Manager, Electronics Engineers and Laser Engineers in a collaborative environment.
n
- The hiring manager is seeking a genuine "jack-of-all-trades" engineer who can take a concept from initial requirements through CAD development, manufacturing drawings, prototype builds and testing. While strong design capability is essential, practical aptitude and a willingness to get involved are equally important.
n

Key Responsibilities: nn
- Develop mechanical designs from concept through to prototype and manufacture.
n
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
n
- Design and develop mechanical and opto-mechanical systems.
n
- Support fabrication, assembly, testing and commissioning activities.
n
- Develop prototypes, jigs, fixtures and test equipment.
n
- Conduct design reviews, validation and risk assessments.
n
- Manage procurement and external manufacturing activities.
n
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
n
- Contribute to QA/QC and engineering documentation processes.
n
- Ensure compliance with WHS and regulatory requirements.
n
Skills/experience: nn
- Mechanical Engineering degree with 2+ years' post-graduate experience.
n
- Strong CAD modelling and detailed design capability.
n
- Experience developing designs from concept through to manufacture.
n
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software, ideally SolidWorks.
n
- Hands-on engineering experience with fabrication, assembly or workshop environments.
n
- Experience with pressure equipment, vacuum systems, optics or electro-mechanical integration would be highly regarded.
n
- Background in defence, medical devices, nuclear, scientific instrumentation, manufacturing or heavy industry environments preferred.
n
- Ability to translate engineering requirements into practical design solutions.
n
- Comfortable working closely with technicians and workshop personnel.
n
- Coachable, adaptable and eager to learn from senior engineers.
n
- Australian Citizenship is essential.
n
- Ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 Security Clearance.
n
