THE ROLE
n The Compliance Officer is responsible for the achievement of business objectives and for managing aspects of transport compliance within New South Wales, including:

n

- Monitoring, managing and reporting on developments including changes in legislative and regulatory obligations
n
- Engaging with and advising the business on effective management of its compliance obligations and performance improvement
n
- Managing NHVR Performance-Based Standards (PBS) vehicle and combination approvals, accreditation requirements, and ongoing compliance obligations
n
- Implementation and maintenance of compliance framework and procedures
n
- Engagement with regulators
n
- Support and encourage the organisation in identifying and self-reporting on compliance issues, including supporting the investigation into such incidents, remediation plans, and continuous improvement
n
- Based at Lidcombe, with regular travel required across NSW operations and customer sites, this is a core part of the role

RESPONSIBILITIES nn
- Conduct all incident reporting and manage corrective actions
n
- Manage NHVAS compliance for NSW operations
n
- Manage NHVR PBS vehicle and combination compliance, including accreditation and contractor compliance
n
- Monitor and manage Mass Management, Basic Fatigue Management (BFM), and Chain of Responsibility (CoR)
n
- Conduct audits on logbooks,



maintenance sheets, run sheets, etc.
n
- Carry out safety audits and conduct toolbox talks with drivers
n
- Manage and monitor maintenance sheets
n
- Facilitate necessary training for fleet management and maintenance
n
- Act as the day-to-day point of contact for operational teams on heavy vehicle compliance matters
n
- Manage all accidents, incidents, and liaise with insurance and legal officers within NSW
n

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS nn
- Genuine, hands-on experience in heavy vehicle compliance, NHVR, CoR, and ideally PBS, a general WHS background alone will not be considered sufficient for this role
n
- Understanding of road legislation, NHVAS, and fatigue management regulations
n
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a compliance, safety, or operational auditing role within transport or logistics
n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
n
- High attention to detail
n
- Organisational and problem-solving abilities
n
- Excellent customer focus
n
- High regard for protected working practices
n
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly across NSW
n

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS nn
- Knowledge of the Transport and Logistics industry
n
- Compliance officer experience
n
- HC or MC licence preferred
n
- Understanding of road legislation, NHVAS, and fatigue management regulations
n
